“The Dark Knight Rises” Screening Turns Tragic: 12 Dead, 50 Injured
It was an exciting evening for Batman fans in Denver, Colorado last night (July 19) until a masked gunman showed up at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
According to police, the alleged shooter gunned down twelve people (including a six-year-old child), with another fifty people being taken to the hospital with injuries.
It all happened at a midnight showing of the film at the Century Aurora Theatre, where the crowd initially thought the gunshots “were part of the movie.”
The gunman wore a gas mask and set off a smoke or tear gas bomb while carrying a rifle, a handgun, and another weapon.
And it’s no wonder the theater was packed- “The Dark Knight Rises” scored more than $25 million in midnight ticket sales, with a total of $30 million in advance sales so far.
