Live Earth: Al Gore's Global Party

As reported previously by the Gossip Girls, the series of Live Earth concerts across seven continents got started off with a bang yesterday (July 7). Just 24 hours later, the global party has come to an end - but the hope is that the event's message will live on for quite some time to come.

Shakira and Rihanna Help Kick Off Live Earth

The 2007 version of Live Earth concerts kicked off on Saturday (July 7) in an attempt to persuade governments and citizens to go green. And Rihanna and Shakira were among the acts performing in nine cities around the world.

According to Reuters reports, "around 40,000 people filled the Aussie Stadium in Sydney, 10,000 turned up at the Makuhari Messe hall outside Tokyo, thousands watched at the steps of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai and many more braved the rain in Hamburg."

Shakira Joins Live Earth Hamburg

If you're a fan of Shakira and plan on attending Live Earth's Hamburg show, then you're in luck. It was announced on Friday (June 22) that the hip shaking Colombian sensation has joined an already star-studded lineup for the July 7, 2007 concert.

"Live Earth is about engaging a mass movement of people to take action against the climate crisis," Live Earth Founder and Producer Kevin Wall said. "The addition of internationally popular music acts like Shakira will help us reach millions of people across the globe."

The world's biggest names in the music industry are prepping to help save the planet in a series of concerts around the world. Madonnna and James Blunt are two of the names among the many acts expected to perform at the Live Earth concert in London on July 7, in hopes of raising awareness of climate change and the dangers it poses.
