Cory Monteith's Father on Losing Son: "It's Just Ripping My Insides Out"
As Gleeks everywhere get ready to see the hit Fox show pay tribute to Finn Hudson, Cory Monteith's father is having trouble saying goodbye.
Estranged from his son for years due to a rough divorce from his mother Ann McGregor, Joe Monteith says he was even excluded from seeing his boy's body before it was cremated.
In an interview with People, the 63-year-old says he is heartbroken and wishes he could have said goodbye, sharing, "It’s just ripping my insides out and tearing me apart."
The last time he saw his famous son was about two years ago, when they talked about the reasons for their distance and Cory's recovery from drug addiction. Though he promised his father he wouldn't go back to drugs, Joe says, "I lost my son. He should have known not to touch that drug again."
Catch the Farewell to Flynn on "Glee" Thursday night (October 10), which Joe hopes will send a powerful message. "I don't want to see any parent lose a child over heroin."
