“Sherlock” Season 3 Coming in January
After a long wait, PBS announced the season three premiere date for its highly acclaimed series “Sherlock.”
The show, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman comes back to the small screen on January 19 at 10 p.m.
In addition, for the first time “Sherlock” airs back-to-back with PBS’ other hugely successful program “Downtown Abbey,” with its new season premiering on January 5.
According to reports, “Sherlock’s” new season was delayed due to Cumberbatch and Freeman’s skyrocketing careers in the film industry with both starring in “The Hobbit” and “Star Trek,” respectively.
Executive producer of the show Sue Vertue shared a statement with Entertainment Weekly, which read, They are jaw dropping. They are like small movies. Benedict and Martin are so in their Sherlock-Watson groove. They are so comfortable with that relationship it’s like being in the room with them.”
“We are hugely excited about this next series of Sherlock, and have worked closely with our partners, Masterpiece and PBS, to bring these episodes to U.S. audiences in January. We promise our fans that Season 3 is worth waiting for,” Vertue added.
