Zoe Saldana in Flare January 2014: You Have To Learn From Your Experiences
While donning designer duds from Louis Vuitton and Joe Fresh for the James White-shot spread, the "Star Trek" babe opened up about never compromising herself in her career and making sure to have priorities outside of work.
Highlights from Miss Saldana's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Flare!
On standing her ground:
"I can't fake how I feel. If a director's trying to make me be something I'm not, I can try to get into it, but at the end of the day, it's your loss. 'Cause I'm not gonna be present, I'm gonna completely be a f***ing little s**t."
On making time for other things besides work:
"I'm an artist.I love going to work - researching and conceiving a character with my director is my favorite time - but as soon as I get home and open up a bottle of wine or sit down with my family. I'm not talking about work."
On learning from her past:
"You have to learn from your experiences. I've been in compromising circumstances, and I wish I'd had the strength that I have no because I would have protected myself better. I would have stood up for myself better. Women are challenged every day and are sometimes encouraged to objectify themselves. And it hurts."
On thinking about her New Year's resolutions:
"I stopped doing them. It's like heading to a party and telling your friends, 'I'm not going to drink, you guys.' Meanwhile, you're the one who blacks out! Let's be real. Oh god, it's usually me."
