War Vet Recalls Paul Walker’s Kindness
He had the career most actors dream of, but Paul Walker didn’t get caught up in all the pomp and circumstance of Hollywood.
Instead, the late “Fast and Furious” star focused on using his fame and fortune for the benefit of others, such as Iraq War veteran Kyle Upham and his wife Kristen.
Ten years ago, the Uphams met Walker at a Bailey Banks & Biddle store while shopping for a ring, and Paul ended up buying the jewelry for them himself.
Kristen told “Today,” "You could tell he had a demeanor about him; it was almost like anybody he probably would meet would become his best friend."
The Uphams explained that they found the wedding ring of their dreams but had to leave it at the store given its $9,000 price tag.
But that all changed when a clerk from BB&B called to tell them that Paul had purchased the diamond wedding ring on their behalf. "(She was) saying, 'Here's your ring, it was bought and paid for it in full.' Just utter amazement, and sheer gratitude. He just did a wonderful and generous thing."
