Box Office: "Frozen" Catches "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" to Take Top Spot
Families looking to spend some time together as the holiday season gets in to full swing put "Frozen" on top at the box office for the weekend of December 6-8, 2013.
Disney's animated adventure comedy, voiced in part by Kristen Bell, scored a $31 million three day total to bump its way to the title.
After two weeks as victor, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" landed in the second spot for the weekend. The second film in the Hunger Games trilogy, which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, added another $27 million to its record breaking totals.
Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are the new crime thriller "Out of the Furnace" ($5.3 million) in third, Chris Hemsworth's action fantasy "Thor: The Dark World" ($4.8 million) in fourth, and the Vince Vaughn comedy "Delivery Man" ($3.8 million) in fifth.
