Each year she shares her thoughts during a Christmas speech, and Queen Elizabeth II expressed gratitude for her great-grandson Prince George of Cambridge earlier this week.

The 87-year-old monarch declared, "Here at home, my own family it is a little larger this Christmas. As so many of you will know, the arrival of a baby gives everyone the chance to contemplate the future, with renewed happiness and hope."

Queen Elizabeth also made mention of her grandson Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton- "For the new parents, life will never be quite the same again."

As for little Prince George’s christening and the subsequent portrait session, the Queen gushed, “It was a happy occasion.”
