Jimmy Fallon Scores Support for “Tonight Show” Debut
He’s making a huge career leap tonight (February 17) by stepping into Jay Leno's shoes as the new host of “The Tonight Show,” and Jimmy Fallon has received a slew of encouraging messages from his fellow celebrities.
Former “Late Night” and “Tonight Show” honcho Conan O’Brien tweeted, “As the only man alive who’s hosted The Tonight Show & Late Night, I want to congratulate @JimmyFallon & @SethMeyers. They’ll both do great!”
Meanwhile, Sir Ian McKellen chimed in, “Dearest Jimmy– remember me? Another big kiss and luck - Ian McKellen #FallonTonight,” along with a photo of the two of them puckering up on “Saturday Night Live.”
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” stud Jimmy Kimmel wrote, “Congratulations @jimmyfallon - I look forward to doing this side-by-side until our suits look funny and our hair turns white #FalPals.”
And Fallon himself took to Instagram to share his thoughts- “February 17, 2014 This is it. We are starting a new chapter of the Tonight Show. I can’t even begin to describe what we are all feeling right now here at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, NYC. But – I know that we’ll never have this exact feeling ever again. By this time tomorrow we’ll no longer wonder what it would be like to do the Tonight Show. We can’t put that feeling – that moment back in the bottle. All we can do is try to make the best show that we can and make people happy. And we will. Here’s to the first of many. Fun.”
