Jonah Hill Talks “Wolf of Wall Street” Audition, Leo & New Puppy on “Ellen”
He’s nominated for his second Oscar award before the age of 30 and Jonah Hill couldn’t be happier with how his career has turned out thus far.
The “21 Jump Street” star showed up at “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday (February 19) to talk about how he scored his role in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and it’s a great tale.
Jonah began, “Well, I had met Martin Scorsese at the Oscars when I was nominated for ‘Moneyball’ and I was like, ‘I’m not going to go up to him and bother him,’ because he’s my hero. He’s my actual creative hero. ‘Goodfellas’ is the reason I dedicated my life to making films.”
“And I was sitting right in front of him… and I went up and I was just like, ‘Goodfellas is the best.’ And that’s what I said and it was really embarrassing. And I just ran back around to my seat and just sat there.”
Hill added, “About two weeks later I got a call from my agent saying I was at the bottom of a list of far better, more accomplished actors to star opposite Leo [DiCaprio] in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’”
