President Barack Obama’s Spelling Snafu
He’s the most powerful man in the free world, but that doesn’t mean President Barack Obama is immune from embarrassing blunders.
During the Women of Soul tribute to Aretha Franklin last night (March 6), the Commander-in-Chief introduced the Queen of Soul by misspelling the title of her hit song “Respect.”
Obama declared, "When Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her… she had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African Americans and women and anyone else who felt marginalized because of what they looked like, who they loved. They wanted some respect."
He continued, "As someone who always shares this house with brilliant, creative, talented, somewhat stubborn women, I think Women's History Month is the perfect time to honor a few more: the women of soul.”
