Box Office: "The Fault in Our Stars" Reigns
As expected, the highly anticipated new release "The Fault in Our Stars" reigned at the box office for the weekend of June 6-8, 2014.
The romantic drama starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort grabbed more than $26 million on Friday and will wrap up the weekend with $54 million in sales.
Meanwhile, last week's number one, "Maleficent," moved into second place. The Angelina Jolie fronted fairy tale took in $10.2 million on Friday and $34 million over the three day period.
Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are the Tom Cruise action flick "Edge of Tomorrow" ($30 million) in third, sci-fi thriller "X-Men: Days of Future Past" ($15 million) in fourth, and the western comedy "A Million Ways to Die in the West" ($6.8 million) in fifth.
