Sometimes sequels fall flat, but that definitely wasn’t the case for “22 Jump Street” as it landed at #1 on opening weekend.

The Channing Tatum/ Jonah Hill flick topped the $60 million mark, well ahead of “21 Jump Street” which nabbed $35 million when it opened.

Coming in at number two was “How to Train Your Dragon 2” at $50 million and Angelina Jolie’s “Maleficent” scored #3 with $19 million.

Furthermore, “Edge of Tomorrow” snagged #4 ($16.2 million), “The Fault in Our Stars” landed at #5 ($15.7 million) and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” took in $9.5 million for the sixth place finish.
