Ricky Gervais Lays Blame on Jennifer Lawrence for Nude Photo Scandal
As if the feelings of betrayal and overexposure weren’t enough, Jennifer Lawrence is now being criticized in the aftermath of her leaked naked pictures.
“The Office” star Ricky Gervais took to his Twitter account to share his opinion on why the “American Hustle” hottie is to blame for being hacked.
Gervais wrote, "Celebrities make it harder for hackers to get nude pics of you from the computer by not putting nude pics of yourself on your computer."
Shortly after posting the message, Ricky deleted it. However, many of Lawrence’s fans caught it and retweeted in her defense.
One loyal follower wrote, "I wish @rickygervais would stop trying to defend his genius, admit he was a bit of an idiot and move on,” while another stated, “In case you missed his hastily deleted tweet, here is Ricky Gervais blaming the violation of a woman's body on her."
Finally, Gervais weighed in again- "Dear easily offended people, don't be. Hope that helps. Have a great day :). Making a joke about a thing doesn't mean you condone that thing. Of course the hackers are 100% to blame but you can still makes jokes about it. Jokes don't portray your true serious feelings on a subject. It's more important to spend your energy trying to stop actual bad things than to run around trying to stop jokes about bad things. I just had to vacuum up a big spider's web in my office. I made sure leggy wasn't home. I'm not a murderer. He can rebuild somewhere else."
