Matthew McConaughey Talks “Dallas Buyers Club” Weight Loss
He’s dropped 38 pounds to play Ron Woodroof, an AIDS patient, in his new flick “The Dallas Buyers Club,” and Matthew McConaughey didn’t reach his gaunt appearance easily.
The “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” hunk confessed that although he definitely looks like hell, he has adjusted well to the drastic slimdown.
Matthew explained, "I feel good, now. Overall, probably got 35 percent less energy. The tough part, there have been plateaus."
"Getting past 170 was really hard, but then once you get into the 167, the next 7 come off easy. Getting past 160, really hard. But then you fly down to 150. Getting past 150 was really hard. And then, bam, got down to 143 and that's where I want to be. Once you get past the plateau, the body seems to understand, 'OK this is where we're living now, this is where we are,' so the energy rises."
McConaughey also found that he had to be selective as to where he spent time during the weight loss. "I choose to pick my places where there's less good smells and temptations. I don't want to be doing this interview at a Pizza Hut buffet."
