“Oz The Great And Powerful” Sequel Already in Pre-Production
Today (March 8) “Oz The Great And Powerful” hits theaters nationwide, and there’s already plans for a sequel.
According to a report, a second installment of James Franco’s fantasy flick has been in the works for a few months, with screenwriter Mitchell Kapner already on the case.
And though there’s no hard numbers to justify a sequel just yet, projections call for between $75 million and $80 million in first-weekend ticket sales.
Producer Joe Roth told press, “These are stories that lasted the test of time. So there has to be elements in there that speak to a lot of people. So what I'm trying to do is take some of those elements, tell a somewhat modern version but use the technology that didn't exist in film ten years ago or twenty years ago or thirty years ago.”
