Oprah Winfrey: I'm Proud of Lindsay Lohan for Not Going to Europe
Following their epic interview, the “Oprah’s Next Chapter” star was left feeling a bit uneasy about the troubled “Mean Girls” gal.
On “Today,” Oprah told Al Roker, “All I can say about it is this: I believe that she believes that she is ready to move forward in her life. And we'll see."
"I'm anxious to see whether or not this young woman, who is a really, really fine actress, will be able to allow us into her life and let us see the trajectory of trying to put the pieces back together.”
Winfrey continued, "When the Oprah show was first syndicated, and all of a sudden I'm in the tabloids and people are saying things about me that aren't true...I didn't know what to do. But I had the good sense to rely on people who'd been before me."
As for her own advice to LiLo, Oprah noted, "At the end of the interview, I said to her, 'Look, I have some concerns 'cause I hear you're going to Europe. And I just came from Europe, and Europe is the place to go when you want to feel really good and relax. It's very hard to go to Capri and not have a Bellini. I was saying, if I were you I would think about it. So she texted me and said, 'Yes, I will think about it. But, look, I've already paid for it.' And then I just heard this morning she's decided not to go. Isn't that good, that she's decided to stay here and work on herself? I'm so proud of her for that decision."
