Drug Counselors Met With Lamar Odom Shortly Before his DUI Arrest
Shortly before Lamar Odom was busted for drunken driving Friday morning (August 30), TMZ reports the basketball player was visited by drug counselors from the NBA –in an attempt to help him.
Khloé Kardashian Odom's husband had his driver's license suspended for one year following his DUI arrest on a Los Angeles freeway, E! News has confirmed. A city spokesman explained that Odom doesn’t have a current license, and that he’ll have to take a written test to reapply—in one year.
According to an arrest report, the 33-year-old was driving in an erratic manner when police pulled him over. He failed a field sobriety test and then refused a chemical test. He was released on $15,000 bond.
Just hours earlier, TMZ says former NBA players Dirk Minniefield and Cliff Robinson met with Odom at his home. Both players have struggled themselves with substance abuse during their careers. They now counsel current NBA players about handling addiction.
According to one source, the meeting “was very positive." Yet shortly after Minniefield and Robinson left, Lamar drove off and never came home.
