Lance Armstrong Hands Back His 2000 Olympic Bronze Medal
His performance-enhancing drug scandal has cost him pretty much everything, and Lance Armstrong surrendered his bronze medal from the 2000 Sydney Olympics this week.
The disgraced cyclist took to his Twitter account on Thursday (September 12) to report that he’d returned the medallion to the International Olympic Committee.
Armstrong tweeted, "The 2000 Bronze is back in possession of @usolympics and will be in Switzerland asap."
And though Spanish athlete Abraham Olano Manzano technically came in third (with Lance’s removal from the records), the International Olympic Committee has declined to upgrade him to the bronze medal.
